A Franklin man is facing charges for attempting to use the U.S. Postal Service to receive marijuana.
A criminal complaint filed by Franklin city police says Wesley Watson, 40, was arrested at the Franklin Post Office on Wednesday after claiming a package that postal inspectors suspected contained marijuana.
The complaint says a postal inspector contacted Franklin patrolman Josh Wheeling on Wednesday about the package addressed to Watson. The inspector said that delivery of the package had been attempted Tuesday, but the package was too big to fit in Watson’s mailbox, so a note was left for him, the complaint said.
Watson told authorities the package was his, and he said it contained marijuana and consented for police to open the package, the complaint said. Officers observed a little over 30 grams of marijuana upon opening the package, according to the complaint.
Watson said he was supposed to distribute the marijuana to another person or persons, the complaint said.
