WILMINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man who shot at police during a car chase in western Pennsylvania was killed when officers returned fire.
William Frazier II shot at and hit a New Wilmington police vehicle several times during Thursday’s chase along Route 208 in Wilmington.
The 40-year-old New Castle man eventually stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road, got out and continued shooting from behind a wooden shed near the road, At one point, a shot hit a passing car.
State police soon arrived to assist the New Wilmington officers, and Frazier emerged from behind the shed holding the gun. He was shot after he ignored police commands to drop the weapon and continued toward officers in a threatening manner.
Authorities have not identified the officer who shot Frazier.
