Police investigating skeletal remains found in Cornplanter

Skeletal remains were discovered Monday evening in a wooded area of Colonial Village in Hasson Heights, Venango County. Most of the skeleton was intact, and the remains are currently being analyzed at Mercyhurst University to estimate how long they had been exposed to the elements, with an initial suggestion of about six months. An investigation is underway by Franklin state police, but authorities are awaiting identification of the individual before releasing further details.
