From staff reports
Franklin state police have released more details of a UTV crash in Canal Township that fatally injured one man and seriously injured another man on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Cochranton resident Troy Perry, 35, the operator of the UTV, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Cochranton resident Steven Gum, 29, was flown by STATMedEvac to UPMC Hamot.
According to police, Perry lost control of his vehicle, which hit a ditch and traveled along the ditch until the driver’s side left wheel caught on the embankment and caused the UTV to roll several times.
Perry and Gum were both ejected from the UTV, police said.
Troopers are still investigating the crash, police said.
Police were assisted at the scene by Utica Volunteer Fire Department.
