A Cochranton man was taken into custody after an armed robbery Saturday morning in Perry Township, Lawrence County.
Tyler Michael Cory Amos, 25, is one of three people believed to have been involved in a robbery of Cable Hardwoods Inc. at 9:13 a.m. in the 4400 block of Portersville Road in Portersville, New Castle state police said.
When a 60-year-old man made an unplanned stop at his business, he noticed the door to one of his sheds was opened, police said.
When the victim attempted to run to his vehicle, they shot at it preventing him from leaving, police said.
The victim was forced into the building, where he was held at gunpoint and threatened before he was robbed and beaten about the head, face and body with a baseball bat, police said.
He was also hit with a gun, fist, feet and hands, police said.
According to state police, there was a struggle at one point and the individuals attempted to shoot the victim, but the weapon apparently misfired.
While this assault was transpiring, an 84-year-old male family member of the victim arrived for an errand, police said.
The family member was accosted at gunpoint by Rombold, police said. He was robbed of his wallet, and then he was beaten while lying on the ground, police said.
The suspects then stole the 2004 Toyota Scion that belonged to the 60-year-old victim, police said.
The 60-year-old victim crawled through a wooded area to a nearby residence where he called 911, police said.
He was flown to Allegheny General Hospital for serious injuries, and the 84-year-old was transported to Ellwood City hospital for his injuries, police said.
The stolen vehicle was found completely burned in a nearby field, where it was secured and processed by the state police fire marshal, police said.
The individuals left the scene in the Rombold’s blue Jeep Liberty, which was found in the 180 block of Douglas Road in Beaver County, police said.
The Jeep was seized and towed to state police in New Castle pending the execution of a search warrant, police said.
During the spree, police say the three stole a Ford Expedition in North Sewickley and burglarized a home in Cranberry Township, Butler County, where they stole guns and a Toyota Highlander.
Police located the Highlander and the individuals in Cadiz, Ohio, and they pursued the individuals on foot into a wooded area.
Rombold was apprehended and taken into custody.
She was in possession of stolen firearms when she was taken into custody.
Police confirmed that Amos was found and taken into custody on Sunday, according to KDKA-TV.
Police have not identified the third suspect.
The investigation is still ongoing.
