Plans advance for bridge repair project in Cranberry Township

Cranberry Township supervisors approved using up to $80,000 from the general fund for Meadow Church Road bridge repairs to expedite the process, which had been delayed due to federal funding requirements. The work must be completed by October 1 to protect a local endangered rattlesnake habitat. The previously allocated federal funds will be redirected to another project. Additionally, the township approved a $17,620 pump purchase for a sewer lift station and supported David Snedden’s efforts to secure funding for a second sand volleyball court at Morrison Park. The parks and recreation committee also received a $750 United Way grant for equipment to show movies in the park, starting with a family movie on National Night Out. The annual township car cruise on August 17 will honor the late Fred “Sonny” Buckholtz, with plans to rename the event after him next year. Other updates included ongoing road maintenance, water system repairs, and zoning permits issued for improvements totaling $210,345.
