Pithole City lantern tours planned

From staff reports

Lantern tours of historic Pithole City will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2.

The living history event will allow visitors to meet historical figures during a nighttime outdoor tour of the area’s old oil boomtown.

Each tour accommodates 15 people in a group. Tours will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the last tour departing at 9:30 p.m.

Tours depart every 10 minutes and cover steep hills and semi-rugged terrain. Visitors are asked to arrive early, wear sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets can be purchased at drakewell.org/lantern-tours or by calling Drake Well at (814) 827-2797.

Historic Pithole City is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in partnership with Friends of Drake Well, Inc.
