Patriot’s Pen contest winners announced

VFW Commander Jason Reed (back) is pictured with the students who finished in the top three of this year’s Patriot’s Pen writing contest last month – (left to right) Rachel Williams, Victoria Stanish and Samuel Messina – at the Oil City Middle School. Stanish’s essay was chosen over 213 others to be the overall winner, locally. She will move on to compete against other districts in the state for a top prize of $5,000. Each participating student received a certificate and $10. Stanish, Messina and Williams also received a medal.
