The Venango County Economic Development Authority received updates on the ongoing renovations at 100 Seneca in Oil City and the planned makerspace on the building’s fifth floor during their monthly meeting. Listening sessions for the makerspace have revealed popular equipment requests like sewing machines, 3D printers, and a photography light box, with some community members expressing interest in volunteering. County commissioner Sam Breene is optimistic about the professional preservation work being done on the building’s first-floor plaster and fresco ceiling. Bill Flanagan of WPXI-TV was impressed by the project and plans to feature the building on his show. However, the first-floor completion date has been delayed to February 2025 due to wiring and HVAC issues. Concerns were raised about making the building profitable in the long term.
