An Oil City woman pleaded guilty to falsifying child abuse reports to law enforcement in Venango County Central Court on Wednesday.

Carmella Wilt, 29, entered her guilty plea to two misdemeanor counts of false reports – reported offense did not occur.

She originally faced eight misdemeanor counts of false reports of child abuse, five misdemeanor counts of false swearing – mislead public servant, two misdemeanor counts of false report – falsely incriminate another, five misdemeanor counts of false reports – reported offense did not occur, a misdemeanor count of stalking and a misdemeanor count of harassment.

A criminal complaint filed through District Judge Andrew Fish’s office said that on July 24 Wilt filed a report with Children and Youth Services alleging that the father of her one son – who also is the acting father of her second son – along with his girlfriend, administered a controlled substance or medication to both of the children before returning them to her the previous day.

Wilt spoke with Oil City patrolman Robert Culp on July 26 and reiterated the same statements she made to Children and Youth Services, the complaint said.

Culp also spoke with the father and his girlfriend, and said both were forthcoming with information, the complaint said.

The couple provided Culp with medical records for the children, and drug screenings concluded that neither child was given a controlled substance, the complaint said.

Wilt was released from the Venango County jail.
