From staff reports
Registration for kindergarten classes in the Oil City School District for the 2020-21 school year will be held Monday, March 30, through Thursday, April 2.
Children who reach their fifth birthday before Aug. 1 will be eligible to enroll for kindergarten. Parents must present the child’s birth certificate (or proof of birth), immunization record and the child’s Social Security number at the time of registration.
A school nurse will be assisting parents to complete health histories for the required school records.
Proof of Varicella immunization or written proof that the child has had chickenpox is required. The school district nursing staff will offer vision screening tests to all children who registered at this time. The program helps detect eye disorders which occur in preschool children.
Meetings will be held at Hasson and Smedley elementary schools for the purpose of providing parents with specific information and an overview of the kindergarten registration process.
Smedley’s orientation meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 and Hasson’s orientation meeting is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26.
