OC woman accused of attacking man with bat

From staff reports

An Oil City woman is facing charges for hitting her ex-husband with a baseball bat several times in front of their juvenile children.

Oil City police said in a criminal complaint that the ex-husband told police he and Amanda Ray Martin, 31, got into a verbal altercation in the 100 block of Washington Ave. at about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The man tried to ignore Martin, and she grabbed the bat and hit him in the back with it at least three times, the complaint said.

Martin then threatened to stab the man and ran to the kitchen toward a knife on the counter, the complaint said. The man fled the house at this point, according to the complaint.

The man told police that all this occurred in front of their juvenile children, the complaint said.

The man was taken to UPMC Northwest for evaluations of injuries he sustained, according to the complaint.

Martin was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault — attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and simple assault.

She was arraigned Wednesday and placed in the Venango County jail after being denied bail due to the fact she is on parole.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
