From staff reports
The Oil City Police Department is asking residents and business owners in the city to help the department solve crimes by sharing information about outdoor security cameras on their property with the department.
The information about where security cameras are located would be logged with police and not made publicly available, police said in a news release.
“This information would help us to determine if video surveillance is available in an area if/when a crime has been committed and may be needed,” police said.
Police are asking people who have outdoor security cameras in Oil City to email dispatcher Ben Whitehill at ocpdupdates@oilcity.org and provide their name, address, phone number, how many outside cameras they have, and a description of the general area the cameras monitor.
