An Oil City man accused of stealing from his parents on two occasions waived his preliminary hearing in both cases Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.
Charges against 26-year-old Jerid Cochran will now be bound over for further proceedings in the Court of Common Pleas.
In the first case, Cochran is facing a felony count of burglary and two misdemeanor counts each of access device fraud and identify theft for allegedly using his mother’s credit card at Oil City’s two Country Fair locations in August.
A criminal complaint filed through district judge Andrew Fish’s office said surveillance footage at each store shows Cochran making the transactions, and the timing of the theft coincides with the video.
In the second case, Cochran has been charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass, in addition to misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
He is accused of stealing $200 in cash and a credit card from his parent’s home on Hoffman Avenue in September.
Police apprehended Cochran last week after he tried to flee them on Pine Street.
The chase ended when Cochran gave himself up in the Allegheny River.
Cochran remains in the Venango County jail on $50,000 bail in each case.
