OC man faces eluding, DUI charges

From staff reports

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Andrew Fish’s office said that around 12:55 a.m. Friday, Oil City police observed a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Travis Reed fail to stop at the intersection of Central Avenue and West First Street.

Police began to pursue the vehicle, eventually turning on the patrol lights and sirens when Reed failed to stop, the complaint said.

Reed turned onto Ninth Street and began to fishtail as he continued onto Rich Street and nearly traveled off the roadway, the complaint said. The vehicle finally came to a stop in a driveway, the complaint said.

Reed was directed out of the vehicle, and police observed signs of intoxication, the complaint said. Reed was taken back to the Oil City police station and later consented to a blood test at UPMC Northwest, according to the complaint.

He is facing a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, a misdemeanor count of DUI and three traffic-related summary counts. He was arraigned before Fish and placed in the Venango County jail on $5,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday in Central Court.
