An Oil City man is facing aggravated assault, burglary and other charges for breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s parents’ house and attacking her father.
Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint that state troopers and Oil City police were both sent to a Fairview Avenue residence in Cornplanter Township the evening of Feb. 16 after Demarco Francis, 23, kicked down the door of the home and assaulted his ex-girlfriend’s father.
The woman had broken up with Francis that afternoon and had gone to live at her parents’ house with her and Francis’ 5-month-old baby to escape his “abusive tendencies,” the complaint said.
Francis then began messaging and calling her and was threatening violence, according to the complaint.
Francis was charged with felony counts of burglary-overnight accommodations, person present, bodily injury, aggravated assault-attempts to cause or causes serious bodily injury, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of children.
He is also facing misdemeanor charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief with damage to property and disorderly conduct as well as summary counts of criminal trespass and public drunkenness.
He is being held in the Venango County jail with bail denied, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
