The annual Community Clean-Up Day in Oil City will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 21.
The event, organized by the city’s Main Street Program, is open to local businesses, organizations, groups and individuals. Participants may choose their own work sites or sign up for assignment to a specific area.
“We were not able to hold our community clean-up last spring due to the pandemic but we are glad to be able to bring it back this year,” said Kathy Bailey, manager of the Main Street program. “It is a perfect time of year to refresh and this is a great opportunity to get outside with a few other folks to help keep our downtown beautiful and to build community spirit.”
At the end of the day, the city fire department will wash down the city streets and the city’s public works department crews will pick up bags of refuse collected by volunteers.
Although the focus is on the downtown areas, participants may choose to clean any other areas of the city. All participants are asked to follow current health and safety guidelines.
“Participating in Community Clean-Up Day is a great way for people who are passionate about Oil City to show their support,” said Bailey. “We are grateful to the many different groups and individuals that typically roll up their sleeves for this event.”
There are three shifts available to choose from – 9 a.m. to noon, noon to 4 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Check-in will be at the Towne Square park.
Adult supervision is required for all participants who are under 18.
Registration forms are available on the “events&news” page at oilcitymainstreet.org or on the Oil City Main Street Facebook page.
