OC barber settles in at new site after leaving Adamovsky property

Dloniak Barber Shop owner Roger Dloniak gives a haircut to Larry James on Thursday at Dloniak’s new location at 228 Elm St. in Oil City.

The Dloniak Barber Shop, a long-standing fixture in Oil City for about 70 years, has relocated from 108 Center Street to its new home at 228 Elm Street as of November 4. Owner Roger Dloniak expressed relief at moving from the deteriorating Center Street building, which had been neglected by absentee landlord Milan Adamovsky. The shop’s new location, in a space renovated by Oil City Mayor John Kluck, shares the building with Cork N’ Screw winery. The barber shop has a rich history, starting in the 1950s on Elm Street before moving to Center Street in 1970. Roger Dloniak joined the family business in 2001, continuing the legacy started by his father. The move also marks the departure of the last tenant from Adamovsky’s neglected properties, which have drawn numerous code violations and criticism for their lack of maintenance.
