North Clarion High School gym floor ‘total loss’ due to water

A broken water pipe caused significant damage to the North Clarion School District’s old high school gym, leading to a likely total loss of its hardwood floor. Despite efforts to mitigate the damage, the floor began to “cup,” necessitating its replacement. Superintendent Steve Young discussed the urgency of the situation, noting the gym’s frequent use and the need for an expedited bidding process for the new flooring. Additional issues addressed included replacing the business office carpet, adding lighting to the parking lot, replacing the high school’s water tank, and purchasing a new school van. The board also considered the purchase or lease of a new bus due to mechanical issues with current vehicles.
