Nifty at 90: Leeper woman stays active, adventurous

Marie P. Cyphert of Leeper is celebrating her 90th birthday on August 4. Born in 1934 in Lucinda, she was the youngest of six siblings and helped with various farm chores. Marie married Donald J. Cyphert in 1955, and they raised seven children together. She has 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Known for her active involvement in her children’s sports, Marie also worked at North Clarion County School, where she was beloved by students. Since retiring in 1997, she enjoys reading, camping, puzzles, card games, and spending time outdoors. Marie and Don are active members of the Leeper Senior Center and Saint Mary’s Church in Crown. Her baking and handmade needlepoints are cherished by her family. Her family celebrates her adventurous and loving spirit on her milestone birthday.
