Nifty at 90: Franklin woman loved buying, selling antiques

Joyce M. (Ghering) McKain, born in Franklin on August 21, 1934, has lived a rich life filled with community involvement and a love for antiques. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1952, where she played clarinet in the band, Joyce worked in bookkeeping and later at the DPW Polk Center, retiring as a fiscal tech supervisor in 1994. She was married to Lyle R. McKain for 53 years and together they raised two children. In 1983, she co-founded Angus/McKain Antiques, fueling her passion for antiques for over 30 years. Joyce enjoys crossword puzzles, gardening, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, and now enjoys the companionship of her golden-doodle, Sydney Marie.
