Nifty at 90: Cuba mission trip among many highlights for Franklin woman

Esther Lorraine Slocum, born on October 15, 1934, is the youngest child of Frank and Mary Sloss and the last surviving member of her family. She grew up on a farm on Keely Road, where she met her future husband, John Slocum. The couple enjoyed 69 years of marriage before John’s passing in August 2024. Lorraine worked at the Franklin hospital and later at a Christian bookstore. A devoted church member, she was active in Sunday School, the women’s society, and the Handi Helpers group. Lorraine loves traveling and cherishes memories from trips to Alaska and Cuba. She is immensely proud of her family, which includes three children, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and an expected great-great-granddaughter.
