Nifty at 90: CB radio ‘Oil Queen’ still waves her Terrible Towel

Jan Angove, a 90-year-old Oil City resident, reflects on a life rich with family, community, and cherished memories. Born in Tennessee, she moved frequently during her childhood before settling in Oil City in 1953, where she raised a family, worked as a telephone operator, and embraced a deep connection to her community. Known for her warmth, faith, and love of life, Jan has enjoyed hobbies like camping, crocheting, and genealogy, while also treasuring time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A lifelong Steelers fan and former “Oil Queen” on CB radio, she continues to inspire with her stories of resilience, family bonds, and gratitude for God’s blessings.
