A crash in Monroe Township on Saturday morning resulted in the death of Norman T. Mitchell, 32, of New Bethlehem, and serious injuries to his 17-year-old passenger. Mitchell was driving west on Currlsville Road when his vehicle veered off the road, struck an embankment and a utility pole, and then flipped, landing on its roof. The injured passenger was airlifted to Penn Highlands Dubois West for medical treatment. Emergency responders included Southern Clarion County Ambulance, local volunteer fire departments, West Penn Power, and STAT MedEvac.
