The Council on Greenways and Trails announced the top vote-getter at the Fourth Annual Nature Art Showcase and Sale was “Fox in the Sugar Bush” by Deac Mong of Franklin.
Mong’s oil painting won the People’s Choice award and was among more than 80 items that were displayed in the main lobby of the Barrow-Civic Theatre in downtown Franklin during the Franklin On Ice festival.
Mong’s painting shows a single red fox and his tracks in the snow as it explores maple sap gathering buckets already attached to maple trees. As his prize, Mong received a pottery echo vase provided courtesy of Campbell’s Pottery Store in Cambridge Springs.
The free public event was supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
