From staff reports
Paintings, sculptures, photography, furniture, papier mache, mixed media, glass mosaics, other 3-D items and fabric art pieces have been assembled into the Third Annual Nature Art Showcase, a free public art display held Feb. 2 and 3 in downtown Franklin.
More than 40 artists have entered items portraying scenes, outdoor activities, wildlife, and nature as found in Clarion, Crawford and Venango Counties. Those three counties are the areas served by the nonprofit Council on Greenways and Trails which administers the Nature Art Showcase. Assisting CGT this year is nonprofit partner Penn Soil Resource Conservation and Development Council, which serves an eight-county area from its office in Warren, PA.
The public is welcome to meet the participating artists during an informal reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in the lobby of the Barrow-Civic Theatre, 1223 Liberty St. in Franklin. Refreshments are provided courtesy of the event’s co-sponsors: Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts, Barrow-Civic Theatre, Chicken Coop Studio 306, Erie Arts & Culture, Franklin Fine Arts Council, Oil City Arts Council, Oil Region Alliance, Oil Region Coalition of Artists, Penn Soil RC&D Council, Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, Titusville Council on the Arts, and Victorian City Art & Frame.
