From staff reports
The Franklin Fine Arts Council will sponsor its annual Franklin On Ice on Saturday, Feb. 6.
“This year’s event will be a little different as we make our way through this pandemic,” said Ronnie Beith, events and marketing coordinator for the city.
There will be no ice sculpture carving onsite and no timed carving competition, Beith said.
People will be able to stroll through the park beginning at 10 a.m. to see the displays. Drayer Electric will provide lights for the displays to be featured at night, Beith said.
Another change to the wintertime attraction will be a “Signature Soup and Chili Competition,” Beith said. This competition will be held at various restaurants along the 1200 block of Liberty Street.
Tickets are being sold at the Edward Jones office. Proceeds from ticket sales will be divided among the restaurants that participate in the competition, which is being held in cooperation with the Franklin Retail Association.
Beith noted the downtown retail businesses will feature indoor sidewalk sales during Franklin On Ice.
“This is a great opportunity for people to find those special Valentine’s Day gifts from one of our unique shops in Franklin,” Beith said.
