Man waives hearing on burglary charges

A Cooperstown man accused of stealing money from two homes in June waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Shawn Advent, 23, will now be bound over for further court proceedings on charges that include two felony counts each of burglary and theft by unlawful taking.

A criminal complaint filed through district judge Andrew Fish’s office by Franklin state police said Advent entered a residence on Reisenman Drive in Cooperstown between June 1 and June 17.

While inside, Advent took 25 pills from the bathroom of the home in addition to $200 in dimes and $4,000 in cash from a closet and dresser in the bathroom, the complaint said.

Advent also went inside a home on Lakeview Drive and removed $500 in collectible coins kept inside a shoe box, the complaint said.

Advent remains in the Venango County jail, and he his bail was modified Wednesday to $25,000.
