An Oil City man was held for court this week in Venango County Central Court on several charges in connection with a gunpoint robbery in Oil City.
A second man who was charged in the incident hasn’t been apprehended.
Oil City police said in a criminal complaint that on May 27, a man and woman arrived at the man’s apartment on Vo-Tech Drive in Oil City and as they were exiting the vehicle, another vehicle, driven by Herbert Brickner, 54, pulled up beside them.
The man told police he recognized both Herbert Brickner and his passenger, Blaine Brickner, 40, and the vehicle they were in, since he had helped Herbert Brickner work on the vehicle in the past and had seen Blaine Brickner at Herbert Brickner’s residence in the past, the complaint said.
As the man was talking with Herbert Brickner, Blaine Brickner exited the vehicle and placed a black pistol into the side of the man’s stomach and told him to hand over the money that was in his pocket, the complaint said.
After counting the money, Herbert Brickner asked where the rest of the money was and the man told him he had purchased some things, according to the complaint.
At that point, Blaine Brickner put the gun to the man’s temple and said “I should blow your head off” to which Herbert Brickner replied “no don’t,” the complaint said.
The man asked Herbert Brickner why they were robbing him and he replied “you know times are tough right now,” the complaint said.
Herbert Brickner was held for court Wednesday in Central Court on felony counts of conspiracy-robbery-threat of immediate serious injury and conspiracy-aggravated assault as well as misdemeanor counts of conspiracy- terroristic threats and conspiracy-simple assault.
Blaine Brickner has been charged with felony counts of robbery-threat immediate serious injury and aggravated assault-attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon as well as misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and simple assault.
