A transient Franklin man was arraigned and jailed Tuesday on charges that accuse him of entering a woman’s apartment without her permission and taking her phone when she called police.
Franklin police said in a criminal complaint the woman found Scott Peterson, 31, sleeping in her bed in her apartment in the 1400 block of Buffalo Street on March 30. Peterson refused to leave the apartment when the woman told him to and an argument ensued, the complaint said.
Peterson threw the woman up against a wall, then ripped the interior bedroom doors off the hinges and threw them at her, according to the complaint. When the woman told Peterson she was calling police, he took her phone and broke it over his knee, the complaint said.
Then Peterson ran out the back door and fled on foot, the complaint said.
Peterson was charged with felony counts of criminal trespass-enter structure and robbery-take property from other by force, misdemeanor counts of simple assault, criminal attempt-simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and defiant trespass, and summary counts of harassment and criminal mischief.
He was placed in the Venango County jail with bail denied due to him being a flight risk, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 6 in Central Court.
