A Clintonville man is facing charges for fleeing from police in the southern part of Venango County last month.
Polk Borough police said in a criminal complaint that a borough officer was patrolling the area of the Barkeyville Speedway gas station on Dec. 13 when he saw a vehicle last known to have an expired registration pull out onto Route 8.
The officer pulled out behind the vehicle to check its registration which came back as suspended due to no insurance, the complaint said.
By the time the registration information had come back, Frishkorn’s vehicle had turned onto Log Cemetery Road while police continued on Route 8, so the officer turned onto Route 208 to catch up to Frishkorn at the other end of Log Cemetery Road where it intersects with Route 208, the complaint said.
The officer saw Frishkorn’s vehicle turn off Log Cemetery Road, then the officer activated his emergency lights and sirens at the intersection of Route 208 and Farren Surrena Road, the complaint said.
Instead of stopping, Frishkorn turned his vehicle onto Farren Surrena Road and took off at a high rate of speed after the officer signaled for him to stop with his air horns twice, the complaint said.
When Frishkorn turned his vehicle onto Jacobs Road it struck two mailboxes and continued down the road when Frishkorn dislodged the mailboxes from the windshield while passing Byeer Road, the complaint said.
The vehicle then turned onto Georgetown Road and then onto Porter Road where police, who had been pursuing Firshkorn, lost sight of him due to heavy dust from the road, the complaint said.
Police found the car empty with the engine still running and a nearby resident said she saw Frishkorn run across the road, up a hill, and into the woods, the complaint said.
The next day, Polk police got a call from Franklin state police who said Frishkorn wanted to report that his vehicle was stolen, the complaint said.
Polk police took his statement that his vehicle was stolen and that he hadn’t seen it since Dec. 12, the complaint said.
The complaint notes that Frishkorn was wearing the same clothes as “the suspect was described to be wearing the night before.”
The next day, police obtained a written statement from a co-worker of Frishkorn’s who said Frishkorn was bragging to him about the incident saying he had fled from police, got in a wreck, and fled the scene, the complaint said.
Police also reviewed video evidence from Speedway and saw that Frishkorn was the driver of the vehicle that day, the complaint notes.
Frishkorn has been charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer along with numerous other charges, including criminal mischief and unsworn falsification to authorities.
