An Oil City man is facing several charges following confrontations with four people Saturday night in Oil City.
A criminal complaint filed by Oil City police with district judge Andrew Fish says Donald Gustafson, 59, assaulted a woman and her daughter, as well as two men, at the apartment complex at 204 Sycamore St.
Gustafson was intoxicated when he came to an apartment at the complex and made a crude remark, the complaint said. The younger woman asked Gustafson not to speak that way in her mother’s apartment and Gustafson turned and punched her in the nose, causing it to bleed, the complaint said.
The younger woman’s boyfriend became involved in an attempt to protect her and was also punched by Gustafson, who punctured the inside of the man’s lip, the complaint said.
The woman’s mother then became involved and tried to get Gustafson out of the apartment and he struck her in the face as well, according to the complaint.
Gustafson left the apartment and went out into the commons area of the complex as the mother and another man tried to go to the police station, but Gustafson started another confrontation, the complaint said.
The man held Gustafson to the ground and was bitten and cut in the process, the complaint said.
Gustafson was arrested Saturday night on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before Fish and lodged in the Venango County jail after he failed to post $60,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled Aug. 10 in Venango County Central Court.
