Charges have been filed against an Oil City man who allegedly purchased drugs last week using his mother’s money.
A criminal complaint filed through District Judge Patrick Lowrey’s office said Oil City police received a report of a theft Saturday from the 500 block of Colbert Avenue.
Patrolwoman Regina Deloe arrived on the scene and spoke to the victim, who claimed her son, 29-year-old Wayne Kightlinger, told her he had taken her bank card from her room over the past three nights, the complaint said.
Each time he removed money from the card at Country Fair, he would buy drugs with it, the complaint said.
Deloe spoke to Kightlinger, who said that from Thursday through Saturday he went into his mother’s bedroom and took her bank card each night, the complaint said.
He said he went to a convenience store on the North Side between 3 and 4 a.m. to remove between $50 and $300 to buy “crack cocaine” with it, the complaint said.
In total, Kightlinger took at least $1,300, the complaint said.
Kightlinger has been charged with a felony count of access device is unauthorized by issuer and a misdemeanor count of theft by unlawful taking.
He was arraigned Sunday before Lowrey and placed in the Venango County jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled Dec. 28 in Central Court.
