Man accused of pulling gun in downtown OC

An Oil City man is facing charges for pulling a gun on another man by McDonald’s in Oil City on Saturday evening.

Witnesses told Oil City police that at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Brian McClellan, 50, was standing by the railroad tracks by McDonald’s along Elm Street when a man in a vehicle asked him to move, Oil City police said in a criminal complaint.

McClellan and the man got into a verbal argument and then McClellan pulled a handgun from his hip/waist area and pointed it at the man, who got into his vehicle and drove away, the complaint said.

Witnesses told McClellan they were calling police and he was walking toward the North Side Country Fair when police arrested him in the area of Center and Elm streets, the complaint said.

Police found a glass smoking pipe and a bag of suspected methamphetamine belonging to McClellan when they arrested him, the complaint said.

In addition, police found the handgun, a Ruger .380 that was recorded as being lost or stolen from the Altoona area, and a second glass smoking pipe in a flowerbed where McClellan had been taken into custody, the complaint said.

McClellan has been charged with felony counts of aggravated assault-attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, receiving stolen property and firearms not to be carried without a license, as well as misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, simple assault, tamper with/fabricate evidence, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

McClellan was arraigned Saturday and placed in the Venango County jail with bail denied due to him being a threat to society.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
