From staff reports
Oil City optometrist Dr. Edward A. Resler is retiring this week after more than 45 years of being in business.
Resler’s career in Oil City began when he was hired to assist Dr. R.L. Woodring in a Seneca Street office above McNerney’s.
Resler, who attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry near Philadelphia in the mid 1960s, took over the practice in 1970 after Woodring died.
Twice during his 20 years at the Seneca Street location, Resler remodeled the building to improve it for his patients on top of updating his equipment.
Since the first spot didn’t fit all of Resler’s needs, he would eventually move to the current Center Street location in the early 1990s, where he was able to design the entire office layout and include handicap accessible options.
Resler’s retirement might take effect as early as Wednesday.
