Little Free Library installed in Franklin

From staff reports

A Little Free Library was installed this week in Franklin’s Fountain Park near the entrance to the courthouse by Mallory Spence and her son Liam Bidish, 10, of Franklin.

Little Free Libraries are stand-alone book exchanges that operate on a take-one-leave-one basis. They provide free reading materials to individuals of all ages in the area.

This is the second little library Spence and Bidish have had installed. The first one was placed in Franklin Heights in 2019.

“We thought that Fountain Park with so many people that walk through there…would be a great place to put an additional one right downtown,” Spence said. “People can go have lunch and sit down and read a book. Kids going home from school will be able to grab one,” she added.

The little library already seems to be well-used as Spence said that by 6 p.m. Tuesday when they went to add more books all the ones they had put in at noon were almost gone.

This library was built by Knox Enterprise LLC of Franklin.
