On Thursday, Nov. 29, Oil City was all abuzz with festivities.

The Venango Choir, directed by Beth Orris, sang at the Oil City Light Up night, an annual ceremony to celebrate the lighting of the large Christmas Tree in the center of the town.

Accompanying the men and women of the Venango Choir was the Venango Youth Choir, a collection of boys and girls from elementary school ages to eight grade. Together they sang popular seasonal selections such as “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”, “Ding Dong Merrily on High,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

The Salvation Army provided free hot chocolate to all in attendance and volunteers passed out and lit candles to enhance the experience of the yearly event.

This event was sponsored by the Oil City Rotary Club, and is one of their many annual projects to help the community of Oil City.
