Library site to feature new content about OC history

From staff reports

New content about Oil City’s rich history will be added to the Oil Region Library Association’s website soon.

“The Oil City area’s hidden heritage is one filled with ingenuity, largesse, culture and so much more,” said Judy Etzel, a local writer and longtime newspaper reporter who will prepare the stories.

“The city’s incredible success was fueled by great wealth and exceptional talent. Much of our heritage, though, is unknown to many of us,” Etzel said.

The content for the new “Hidden Heritage” blog will be compiled in collaboration with Kay Dawson, Natalie Cubbon and the Oil City Heritage Society.

The featured stories and photos will show off the city’s rich history.

The online content, which will be posted at www.oilregionlibraries.org, also will include “some quirky stories” that some people may never have heard before, said Cubbon, who is projects coordinator for ORLA.
