From staff reports
“Liberty Cabaret Goes to the Movies” opens today at Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin.
The production is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday. It will take the stage again at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3, at the Barrow-Civic’s Little Theatre.
Liberty Cabaret debuted at the Barrow-Civic’s Little Theatre in 2012 under the direction of Ted Smith. Tammi Dahl directed the production in 2013 and 2014 and Nathaniel Licht in 2015. The show took a hiatus in 2016, but resumed in 2017 with Liberty Cabaret Returns: Greatest Hits, an original script written and directed by Casey McVay.
“It’s an honor to lead in the creation of Liberty Cabaret. Since the start in 2012, it’s always been about a group of people coming together for a great adventure. This particular show has a storyline to showcase just that,” McVay said.
“Plus, we’ve added some fun fundraising activities, such as movie trivia and 50/50 raffle, during the shows to raise funds for necessary upgrades to the venue including improvements to the sound and light systems, stage, and more,” he said.
The show’s production team includes Hannah McCarthy, choreography assistant and producer; Suzi Beach, pianist and music assistant; Brooke Lawrie, production assistant; Wendall Holmes, bass guitarist; Aaron and Andrew Ritsig, technical crew; and the Barrow-Civic Theatre’s technical director Gary Hundertmark.
Cast members include Jonathan Bartram, Sallie Bartram, Suzi Beach, Ian Best, Tracy Brown, Ruth Cirillo, Mark Dougherty, Brianne Hennessy, William Hennessy, Brooke Lawrie, Hannah McCarthy, Casey McVay, Aaron Ritsig and Andrew Ritsig.
