Charitable Deeds, a Knox-based, all-volunteer organization that assists those in need in Venango, Clarion and Forest counties, is marking its 15th anniversary.
Through its fundraising campaigns, Charitable Deeds provides help to between 1,100 and 1,300 people a month, the nonprofit’s founder, John Kerle, said.
“It’s continued to gradually increase every year,” Kerle said of the need for assistance. “We have never turned away a worthy family in all 15 years.”
Kerle said the organization has been able to give more than $2 million in assistance since the program’s inception.
He said that although funding is sometimes a concern, the organization has continued to be provided with necessary funding.
“The good Lord has always put us in front of the right people,” he said.
A fundraiser will be held Saturday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wolf’s Den on Timber Wolf Run in Knox as part of the charity’s Veterans of the Armed Forces campaign. Last year, Charitable Deeds raised $43,098 for local veterans through the veterans campaign.
