Kayakers find remains on island in Forest County

Kayakers discovered human remains on King Island in the Allegheny River near West Hickory, Forest County, on Saturday. According to Forest County Coroner Norman Wimer, the remains were mostly skeletonized and likely had been on the island since early spring. The remains, believed to be male, had no identification. The kayakers, who were looking for a campsite, stumbled upon the remains. The body will be examined by a forensic pathologist to determine age, sex, and potentially the cause of death, with hopes for DNA analysis to aid in identification. Authorities are asking for any information regarding missing persons.
