The Oil City Main Street Program will host an illumination celebration at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, to celebrate the new lighting system on the Center Street Bridge.
The event will feature music, dancing and activities for children.
At dusk, luminaries will float down Oil Creek followed by the bridge illumination.
The project involves color-changing LED lights that are attached to the arches and uprights of the north and south faces of the bridge structure, with a strip of flexible lighting running across the base of the bridge.
Last fall, the Oil City Main Street Program enlisted the help of additional partners to implement the bridge lighting project. In November, The Venango County Community Foundation stepped forward to help raise the remaining funds.
