I-80 rollover in Scrubgrass Township

A Sykesville man was cited after a tractor-trailer rollover early Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 in Scrubgrass Township.

Franklin state police said Charles W. Shephard, 57, was headed east in his rig when he failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle’s undercarriage struck the ditch in the center median, police said.

When Shephard tried to drive out of the ditch, he over corrected and traveled across all the eastbound lanes of I-80 East before striking an embankment, police said. The rig traveled about 225 feet along the embankment before overturning onto the driver’s side, police said.

Shephard suffered suspected minor injuries but didn’t require transport to a medical facility, police said.

He was cited for failing on roadways laned for traffic.
