Homes for the holidays

Precious Paws Animal Rescue, the Venango County Humane Society, Clarion PAWS and Tri-County Animal Rescue Center all have lots of furry faces who would just love to find a home for the holidays and beyond. However, All About Animals urges any would-be adopters to do their homework before taking in any pets over the holiday season.

Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin has several adoptable kitten candidates. It also recently helped an injured cat. And don’t forget Photos with Santa Paws is Saturday.

‎LA Lockhart‎ with Precious Paws posted about her foster cats on the group’s Facebook page.

“I am currently fostering these two adorable and very sweet and lovable 10-week-old litter mates, vetted and fixed male babies. If you or anyone you know is interested in giving them a furrever home, please contact PPAR,” the post said.

Rescue to the rescue

Theresa Weldon posted earlier this week about Mia, a cat who had an injured leg. Mia made it through the amputation surgery and is on the road to recovery, Weldon reported.

“Mia is now home from Franklin Animal Clinic after her amputation surgery. Dr. Hoover says she is doing very well,” Weldon posted on Precious Paw’s Facebook page.

Weldon said Mia will go back for a recheck in 14 days.

Meanwhile, those wishing to donate toward Mia’s care, or the other animals at Precious Paws, can do so through PayPal at Adoptpreciouspaws@gmail.com or mail a check to PO Box 784, Franklin, PA 16323.

“We have another cat amputation next week on a humane case out of Oil City (OCPD) and a cat with an injured eye that may need removed. We can’t do this without you,” Weldon added to the post.

Precious Paws can be reached by phone at (814) 671-9827 or by email at AdoptPreciousPaws@gmail.com. More information about the group and its low-cost spay/neuter program, SNYP, can be found online at pparfranklin.com or on the group’s Facebook page.

Sole survivor and some sisters

janae

Janae

Clarion PAWS in Shippenville has Janae, Effie, Edith, Timmy and others who could use a furrever home.

Janae came to us after being found in a field near her – most likely hit by a car – mom, the rescue said in a post on its Facebook page.

“She was the only survivor. After lots of kitten food and medicine to help her get over a cold, this sweet girl is in search of the perfect nap spot,” the rescue added.

Edith and Effie

PAWS is still trying to find homes for sisters Edith and Effie.

“These adorable sisters and their unique calico markings would be a great addition to any family,” the rescue posted.

timmy

Timmy

The rescue also posted about Timmy.

“Timmy has a lot of spunk. He is one kitten who will never lose his kitten spirit. He loves to play with his roommates, new toys, and especially the people who come to visit,” the shelter posted on its Facebook page.

Meanwhile, folks can help make a kitty’s Christmas by stopping by Tractor Supply in Clarion and take one (or more) ornaments from the Clarion PAWS giving tree. The shelter’s current needs are:

* Purina CAT, the blue bag, or Kitten Chow, the yellow bag, and Equine Pelletized Bedding, Tractor Supply.

* The shelter is accepting any brand of dry cat food and clay litter for the barn cats and ferals waiting for a new home.

* Any brand of cat or dog food will be accepted for the shelter’s pet food pantry. “We have many that need food assistance to keep their beloved pets and our shelves are empty,” the shelter said.

Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric. The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The center is closed Fridays and Sundays. More information is available online at www.clarionpaws.org, the group’s Facebook page or by calling (814) 229-1231.

In bloom

rosebud

Rosebud

The Venango County Humane Society in Seneca posted about Rosebud the cat earlier this month on its Facebook page. It also has sweet girl Brownie available for adoption.

“This pretty little girl came to us as a stray and has been with is for 3-1/2 months. She’s an independent girl who enjoys her own space; but also likes being petted and loved … on her own terms of course … she has ‘catitude’,” the shelter posted. She is good with other cats and will tolerate dogs, according to the shelter.

“Rosebud would love to find a home for the holidays she can feel comfortable in and a family who will love her for the pretty girl she is,” the post continued.

So sweet

brownie

Brownie

Brownie, a chocolate Lab, is a 4-year-old spayed female. She has a silky coat and brown eyes.

Brownie is very affectionate, the shelter said.

“This sociable girl will need a daily walk on leash. Her coat just requires a weekly brushing to remove dead hair. Brownie can live outdoors in moderate temperatures, but she’ll be much happier indoors with her new family,” the shelter said.

The society also has a donation-wish tree in its lobby with tags for items the shelter needs.

The humane society is open from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. It is located at 286 S. Main St., Seneca. More information on the Venango County Humane Society is available by calling (814) 677-4040 or online at venangocountyhumanesociety.org.
