Historical Society planning book sale during Applefest

From staff reports

The Venango County Historical Society’s annual book and yard sale will be held during Franklin’s annual Applefest celebration.

The historical society is seeking donations of used books and gently used but no longer needed treasures.

Items may be taken to 307 S. Park St., Franklin, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or at other times if arrangements are made by calling 432-8260.

The sale will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, and run during Applefest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.

During the sale, the society will have the “Venango County 2000: The Changing Scene” book available.

There will be tents set up with books on a wide variety of subjects, sale organizers said. Featured in the yard sale this year are a number of antique quilts.

Along with the sale, the Egbert-Mullins-Koos House will be open for self-guided tours with one last chance to see the society’s exhibit titled “Bridal Gowns Through the Years.”
