Helping out

Clarion PAWS is looking for some volunteers. Precious Paws is seeking the owner of an injured cat the rescue is helping and many adorable animals are looking to be adopted

Lend a hand

mikail

Mikail, a young medium hair male, is available for adoption from Clarion PAWS.

Clarion PAWs posted a plea for help earlier this week on its Facebook page.

“Because we have no paid staff, our residents depend on volunteers for 100 percent of their care,” the post said.

The shifts are  from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and  from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The rescue is closed to the public on Fridays and Sundays so cleaning times on those days vary. During the shift volunteers will scoop or change the litter, sweep the floor, dump/wipe out and refill the water bowls, fill food bowls and give everyone a small serving of canned food.

“When we have two to three per shift there is time for some loving, brushing and cuddling,” the rescue said.

“If you would like to help, please just come in on at the beginning of any shift and they key person will show you what to do,” the post continued.

The rescue is caring for 87 cats and kittens at the PAWS house right now.

“We are at an all time high and are in desperate need of volunteers, donations, and funding for medical bills and utilities to continue housing these fabulous felines,” the rescue posted on its Facebook page.

“We ask that you help in anyway you can. Even $5 helps us care for these wonderful cats everyday,” the post said.

Donations are tax deductible. They can be mailed to P.O. Box 804, Clarion, Pa. 16214 or made via paypal at www.paypal.com.

“Any help is greatly appreciated and helps make the PAWS cats lives better,” the rescue said.

Meanwhile, Serena could is looking for her furrever home.

Serena

Serena

Serena was found one morning in a large dog crate by the back door at the PAWS house with her four kittens. Now that her kittens are finding their furrever homes it is time for Serena. She is a sweet girl that has the playful energy of her kittens but much prefers lazy days sunbathing and stealing attention.

All PAWS cats have been spayed/neutered, Feline Leukemia tested and received basic vaccinations, a rabies vaccine, wormed and have had a wellness exam by one of our Clarion PAWS veterinarian partners. Adoption fee is $35 for adults and $70 for kittens. Adoption application is required.

Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric.

More information is available online at www.clarionpaws.org, the group’s Facebook page or by calling (814) 229-1231.

Oscar Fund in action

hurtkitty

Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin is using its Oscar Fund to help this injured cat. The cat was found in the parking lot of the AAUB church earlier this week.

Precious Paws is using the Oscar Fund to help an injured cat. The rescue was also seeking the owner of the kitty who was later located.

Theresa Weldon posted on Precious Paws Facebook page that the Oscar Fund was needed once again to help an injured cat. The cat was found in the parking lot of the AAUB church earlier this week.

“Through the end of August, a generous patron has offered to match funds up to $5000. We have raised $4150, but there’s still time to help,” Weldon posted.

The cat being helped is a 3-5 year old male who had maggots in his skinned foot.

He was in pain and dehydrated when a volunteer got him to the vet, according to Weldon.

“On top of our after hours vet bill, we are now needing to amputate his leg,” she posted.

” … We are helping him because its the right thing to do. We don’t turn away an animal in need as long as there are funds,” Weldon continued.

Weldon posted on Thursday that the kitty’s owner identified him.

“He purred when he saw them,” the post said.

“He will have his leg amputated and be neutered today. And hopefully home in a few days. Your donations help provide for animals like this,” Weldon posted Thursday.

Donations can be made via paypal or mail. AdoptPreciousPaws@gmail.com is the PayPal address or  checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 784, Franklin, Pa. 16323.

Up for adoption

MitzyLuna

Precious Paws fosters Mitzy and Luna (black kittens) share a meal with Bria who is not up for adoption.

Christy Fackler with Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin shared an update earlier this on her two foster kittens.

“Luna (fluffy black kitten) made great advances today in putting up with the other cats. She only had a little bit of growling here,” Fackler posted.

Mitzy and Luna will be up for adoption.

“Luna is a cuddler and will fall asleep in your arms while Mitzy is a lively little play-aholic,” Fackler posted. Also pictured is Bria the larger kitty who is not up for adoption since she has already found her forever home with Fackler.

panda

Panda

Crystal Bennett of Precious Paws posted that Panda was “bored on this rainy day, so he’s learning how to stalk and pounce on his favorite stuffed lamb.”

Crystal Bennett of Precious Paws posted earlier this week about her foster Panda.

(Even though Panda was already Pet of the Day, All About Animals thought we’d create a little Pandamonium by sharing more about him.)

“This handsome guy is still waiting for his forever home. Panda is up to date on all shots and has recovered nicely from his neuter. Now all he needs is a family,” Bennett posted.

She posted that Panda is a young happy and energetic boy that loves people. He is good with kids, cats and other dogs. He is fully house trained and only needs someone willing to get him some exercise and work on additional basic training.

Precious Paws can be reached by phone at (814) 671-9827 or by email at AdoptPreciousPaws@gmail.com. More information about the group and its low-cost spay neuter program, SNYP, can be found online at pparfranklin.com or on the group’s Facebook page.

They will steal your heart

Tricount

Adoptables from Tri-County Animal Rescue Center

Maka is one of five Plush German Shepherd mix puppies available for adoption at Tri-County Animal Rescue Center in Shippenville.

Not pictured is puppy Baron, who is extremely laid back, eager to please and oh-so-sweet! Quite the opposite is “Crazee” Dayzee, a pup who marches to the beat of her own drummer. A strong, but kind, alpha owner is recommended for this “wild child.” Maka, Shaman, and Zebra are quiet, active pups and quite irresistible in their own right.

Stunning Penelope, a petite calico, is an attention seeker but is just as content watching activity around her. Penelope is friendly, enjoys rubbing people’s legs and is fond of her cat naps. She gets along well with other cats, is current on vaccines and is spayed.

Love bug Skippy oozes affection, giving nose kisses and awesome neck snuggles, purring like crazy all the while. He loves being held, is sweet and curious, and he enjoys talking. Skippy is up to date on vaccines and has been neutered.  Fluffy and utterly adorable, don’t let this one get away!

Young Chihuahua mix, Gizmo, loves snuggles, kisses and playing with toys which he gently returns. He can be a tad shy with new people, but Gizmo will supply years of affection and fun to his new forever owners. Don’t pass this gem by!

New to Tri-County are Albert and Baldrick. Charming Albert is playful, sweet and enjoys chin rubs. Shy Balrick enjoys being held and is also very playful.   Both are up to date on vaccines and neutered.

Dainty Inky is a playful, female kitten marked with a little locket of white on her chest and belly.  She is full of personality despite her small stature.  Inky is current on vaccines and is spayed.

For more information, people can contact Tri-County on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Tri.County.Animal.Rescue.Center, call (814) 918-2032, or email contactus@Tricounty-arc.org.
