The Clarion Call report
Clarion University
On Oct. 25 and 26, Clarion University’s Ballentine Hall, a former and now abandoned dormitory building, will be transformed by the Student Honors Association, into their annual walk through the “Haunted Dorms” attraction.
Halloween brings out an interesting side of people, and events like these allow people to have fun while tapping in to their scary side.
Haunted Dorms is decorated by student organizations and give a theme to the event each year.
Another building on campus, Givan Hall, has also been transformed into the baseball and softball teams’ second annual haunted house.
The Haunted Dorms attraction will be open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission to the attraction is open to and free for students, faculty and the public. Donations are accepted, the proceeds of which benefit the Clarion Cancer Center.
Light refreshments will be available for free after exiting the attraction.
The Haunted Dorms attraction is made up of multiple rooms with each individual room having been purchased and decorated by different student organizations.
Student organizations are invited to be a part of the attraction by purchasing their own room, which they can then decorate with its own theme and use to scare visitors.
As visitors arrive at the haunted dorms, they will be led through the building’s dark hallways by a guide who will give them access to each room.
In these rooms, they will find various horror characters and horror scenes.
These characters will often try to get the visitors to stay, yell for their help, or tell them to leave while they still can.
Haunted Dorms is an event that many Clarion students and organizations look forward to participating in or going to.
A few examples of rooms that visitors have experienced in the past are: a torture/scary movie room, a claustrophobia themed room, a room that had little girls playing with headless dolls in it, and a padded cell room, like one that would be found in a mental asylum.
The baseball and softball teams' haunted house will take place on Oct. 25, 26 and 27, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Givan Hall.
General admission for the public is $15.
Admission for university students with a school ID is $10.
Proceeds will benefit the baseball and softball programs. In 2017, the attraction was located in Tippin Gymnasium. It was called “The Haunted Gymnasium.”
The baseball and softball players welcome anyone to come to the attraction. However, they also advise that it may be too frightening for young children.
For any additional information or questions about the haunted house, contact the university baseball office at (814) 393-1913, or the softball office at or (814) 393-2118.
