Several Halloween events have been slated in the region.

Haunted Peninsula

TIONESTA – The Haunted Peninsula will be held today and Saturday at Lighthouse Island in Tionesta. It begins and dark and runs until 10 p.m. The event features a haunted hayride, a spook walk, face painting, pumpkin painting, games, activities and more.

Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 15 years old. Proceeds benefit the Taylor Diversion Programs.

Nightmare on Main Street

COOPERSTOWN – Nightmare on Main Street will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. today and Saturday. The haunted house is located at 170 N. Main St., Cooperstown, next to the fire station. Cost is $8 per person. The haunted house is sponsored by the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department.

Haunted Barn

BROOKVILLE – The Haunted Barn will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. today and Saturday at 1801 Old State Road, Brookville. The cost is $5 per person. The event is sponsored by the Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department. More information is available by calling (814) 648-0777.

Escape Room

BROOKVILLE – Dr. McKnight’s Medical Mayhem Escape Room will be held hourly from 6 to 10 p.m. today and Saturday at the Brady Craig Building, 236 Jefferson St., Brookville. The cost is $20 per person.

The escape room is a live-action game in which a team of two to six companions are locked in a room, and they have to figure out how to get out within one hour.

‘Scenes of Horror’

MEADVILLE – The Meadville Community Theatre will present a “Scenes of Horror” haunted house from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. today and Saturday. The haunted house will be staged at 15659 Highways 6 and 19 in Meadville, next to Willy G’s. Cost is $10.

Halloween costume party

SANDYCREEK TOWNSHIP – The third annual Halloween costume party to benefit the Sarcoma Foundation of America will be held today at the Sandycreek fire hall on Congress Hill Road. The doors will open at 8 p.m. and dance is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Disc jockey Rick Cardy will provide music to dance to. There will be category prizes awarded for best costumes. The event also includes raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Cost is $10 per person.

Halloween party

CHAPMANVILLE – The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its annual Halloween party for children in the Plum and Troy Township area at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The fire hall is located at 458 Meadville Road on Route 27, eight miles west of Titusville.

Cookies and donuts with cider or lemonade will follow the party. Each child will receive a bag of candy to take home. Donations for the party can be brought the day of the party or given to auxiliary members.

Nancy Kopf of Chapmanville will be the emcee and lead the children in games. Following the party, trick or treating in Plum Township will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

Salem annual community party

SALEM TOWNSHIP – The annual Halloween party for the residents of the Salem Township community will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Community Building. The party follows trick or treating from 4 to 7 p.m. The parade of costumes will start at 7:05 p.m. followed by judging. Prizes will be awarded with categories for everyone. There will be treats and snacks as well.

The event is sponsored by the DeHart, Rosssman, Wenner American Legion post No. 997 and its auxiliary. It is hosted by the Venango’s Edge 4-Hers.

Halloween parade

CLARION – The annual Halloween Parade at the Clarion Mall will start at 11 a.m. Saturday. Parade registration will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Children will be judged in four costume categories including scariest, prettiest, cutest and most original. Sheriff Rex Munsee is among the judges for the contest.

Haunted Brookville

BROOKVILLE – Haunted Brookville is a day-long event scheduled for Saturday. The event includes games for kids, contests, walking ghost tour, Escape Room, fall color run and more.

The Brookville YMCA will hold its color run at 10 a.m. Tea Leaf Readings will be held at 11 a.m. The Haunted Hospital will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at 298 Main Street. Clarion University dance and theater students will give instructions to “Thriller” at 3 p.m. A group reading with a psychic medium is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. 7 p.m. – A screening of the 1925 film “Phantom of the Opera” will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Pickering Street. The Eerie Tales walk will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. and the Escape Room will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.

Community Fall Fest

A Community Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat event will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church, 111 Reed St., Oil City. Children may attend dressed in costume and walk from car to car to gather treats. There will also be games to play, face painting, crafts and door prizes.

‘Howloween’ dog party

Precious Paws Animal Rescue will also hold a “Howloween” dog party from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at its SNYP Clinic, 720 Atlantic Ave., Franklin.

Admission is free to well-behaved dogs and their people. There will be snacks, treats and games along with Cathy Baldwin providing the music.

Prizes will be award for best dog and people costumes – scariest, silliest, sexiest and most original.

Those attending should call 671-9827 and take a donation of cat food for the rescue’s pet food bank.

Oakland Township open house

Oakland Township will hold trick-or-treating hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual open house during those hours. Residents who do not get a lot of trick-or-treaters may take their treats to the fire hall and share them there. The site usually sees about 70 to 80 children. There will be tables set up with light refreshments available. Groups that are interested in providing an activity or treat for children may contact Jane Thompson at 673-6066.

Hallelujah Festival

The Oil City First Church of God, at 11 E. Eighth St., will hold its annual Hallelujah Festival from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday. The event is for children ages 3 years old to those in sixth grade. Trunk or Treat will take place in the church parking lot. Hot dogs and punch will be served. In case of rain, the festival will move inside to the church’s gym.
