Rocky Grove Middle/High School sent two teams last week to the 16th annual Venango County Youth Retreat at Camp Coffman, and one of them won first place.
Rocky Grove’s student government members took home the first place trophy, which they gained in competition against seven other area middle and high schools.
According to Pam Johnson, supervisor of Keystone SMILES, a sponsoring agency, the participating teams engaged in eight different team-building events, at which they were rated on team work, communication, encouragement, the ability to solve problems and positive attitudes.
Also participating, according to Johnson, were Oil City schools, Youth Alternatives, Franklin Area schools, Cranberry Area schools, and alternative education programs.
Johnson said the volunteer helpers from local non-profits help to make the event possible each year.
