Grove board to discuss tuition options for non-district students

Valley Grove School District Superintendent Kevin Briggs said during Monday’s school board work session that the district has been receiving inquiries from families of Venango Catholic High School students about tuition options for students who don’t live in the district.

Venango Catholic is closing its doors at the end of this school year, leaving students looking for alternatives for next year’s school year.

School board members indicated Monday they plan to discuss having a tuition set for non-resident students at their regular monthly meeting next week.

If the board gives the OK next week, the district will work to get a policy in place to develop appropriate tuition numbers.

“It will take some time,” Briggs told the newspaper following the meeting. “We’ll want to have things in place by the end of this school year.”

In other business Monday, the board approved David Owens and Matthew Cropp as volunteer coaches for an elementary skills basketball program that was approved last month by the board.
